Coastal teams dominated the A-section tournaments, while hosts Boland struck double gold in the B-section, on the fourth and final day of action at the SASHOC U-13 Nationals in Stellenbosch on Wednesday.
In the boys’ A-section, KZN Coastal won a tight battle for the national title, defeating Southern Gauteng 4-0 in their last match of the round robin tournament.
They went undefeated, finishing top of the table with 19 points after securing six wins and one draw in their seven games.
Eastern Province took second place in the standings, just one point behind the champions.
In the girls’ A-section, Western Province beat KZN Coastal 3-0 in their last game to finish top of the table as they lifted the prestigious primary school trophy.
They also went undefeated to bag the title, completing the tournament with 19 points after earning six wins and a draw.
Eastern Province took the runner-up spot, three points behind the champions.
Luc Boyall of KZN Coastal scored 10 times, and Zanay Gerber of Western Province hit the backboard on 11 occasions, as they finished as the top goal-scorers in the boys’ and girls’ A-section tournaments.
Meanwhile, in the B-section, Boland were victorious in both competitions.
The Boland boys’ team won all seven of their matches and the girls’ side won six of their games, with both squads finishing top of their respective standings.
