WESTERN PROVINCE TARGET A-SECTION DOUBLE AT SASHOC U-18 NATIONALS

Delivering standout performances in the boys’ and girls’ tournaments, Western Province set themselves up for a double title chase at the SASHOC U-18 Nationals in Stellenbosch on Thursday.

In the girls A-section, Southern Free State will face an intimidating Western Province team in the gold medal contest, to be played at Maties on Friday.

Southern Free State narrowly edged out hosts Boland in their semi-final, which was settled in a shoot-out (2-0) after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Western Province, meanwhile, produced a convincing 4-1 victory over Amathole.
Boland, who had gone unbeaten in the pool stages, will be eager to please an enthusiastic home crowd when they face Amathole in the third-place playoff on Friday.

They will square off against KZN Coastal, who won a thrilling derby clash in the other semi-final, defeating KZN Inland in a shoot-out (4-3) after they had played to a 2-2 draw.

The bronze medal playoff will be contested between KZN Inland and Southern Free State.

All the A-section medal playoffs will be broadcast live on Friday on SuperSport (DStv channel 209).

  • 8.05am – Girls third-place playoff
  • 9.25am – Boys third-place playoff
  • 10.40am – Girls final
  • 12.25pm – Boys final
